Ballyfin Hotel, Ireland (2015 – Present)
Since returning to Ireland in April 2015, Tom has performed as the resident musician in the world renowned and exclusive Ballyfin Hotel in Co. Laois, Ireland – voted the “No.1 Best Hotel in the World” by the influential American “Conde Nast Magazine” in 2016. Visit www.ballyfin.com to learn more about one of Ireland’s greatest treasures. New Nano Nagle Musical
Tom has a great love of Musical Theatre and completed work on composing his first full musical in November, 2017. The show is called “Woman Of Welcoming Heart” and is about the life of Irish woman Nano Nagle (foundress of the Presentation Sisters) and her inspirational story that still influences so many around the world.
The Musical was composed over a 4 year period with the help of Sister Roisin Gannon PBVM and English script-writer Dan E. Hyland. The text of the songs are based on poetry by Sister Raphael Consedine PBVM.
2018 marks the 300 Year anniversary of Nano’s birth in 1718 and will be a year full of celebration for Presentation Sisters and Pupils all around the world.
“40 Piano Solos” CD (2017)
Piano Man Tom recently released his new “40 Piano Solos” instrumental album featuring beautiful and well known songs performed on a Steinway Grand Piano. The songs were chosen by Tom out of all his favorite pieces that he performs as Resident Pianist in the luxury Ballyfin Hotel, Co. Laois. Cruise Ship Performing (2014-2015)
In 2014, Tom began performing as a singer and pianist with Holland America Cruise line. Working on the ships, Tom met and entertained thousands of people of all nationalities and he also got to see hundreds of exotic and interesting destinations all around the world. Tom was also the first person to ever form a church choir on a Holland America cruise ship during a U.S.A. to Europe Atlantic Ocean crossing in 2014.
First Album – “Handwoven Stories” (2011-2015)
Piano Man Tom spent four years writing, recording, and producing his first album “Handwoven Stories” which was completed in 2015. It is now available to purchase at Tom’s Online Shop or can be downloaded on iTunes.com. “Handwoven Stories” features 12 original songs with Piano Man Tom singing and performing all of the music including lush orchestration, flowing piano music, and one or two strange musical sounds that might surprise the listener.
Second Album – “Make A Wish” (2015-2016)
Tom’s second album “Make A Wish” features 10 songs composed by Tom during 2015 to 2016 after he returned from his seven month world tour performing on Cruise Ships. Tom composed over 60 possible songs for the album and narrowed them down to the final 10 after lots of deliberation. Many of the songs not on the album will be used in future projects Tom is working on like musical productions. “Make A Wish” can be purchased on Amazon.com or iTunes.com.
Live Performances – “Chris’s Journey” (2014)
In addition to his studio work, Piano Man Tom composed a new musical story called “Chris’s Journey” in 2014. The show featured Tom performing a selection of his own original songs along with some well known cover songs from the likes of The Beatles, Elton John, Billy Joel, and many more. “Chris’s Journey” has been performed several times in Ireland, with some of the performances donating all of the proceeds to charities like “Down Syndrome Ireland” and “Pieta House” – a suicide awareness and prevention organization.
“Proud To Be Irish” DVD and “Songs From Ireland” CD (2015)
Written by Piano Man Tom in 2015, “Proud To Be Irish” is a show about an American woman who travels to Ireland to trace her family history and it tells of all the places she and her family visit around the country. Some of the songs featured are audience favourites like When Irish Eyes Are Smiling, Galway Bay, Too-ra Loo-ra Loo-ral, It’s A Long Way To Tipperary, Danny Boy, and more. All the songs from Tom’s accompanying album “Songs From Ireland” are performed during the show along with live narration, or along with pre-recorded narration set to images of Ireland. A live DVD of the show with a full band, lighting, sound, and film crew was recorded in Ireland in October, 2015. Both the CD and DVD of these Irish songs can be purchased on Tom’s website.
Tom is currently working on two new musicals to add to the already completed Nano Nagle musical. One of them is another religious musical called “A Mighty Catch” which is an ongoing project with lyricist Buddy Sutton and Dan E. Hyland, began in 2012. The other musical that Tom is working on is currently in its planning stages and more information will be available in the near future.
RTE Television – The Brittas Mass
Tom also has a keen interest in composing and performing religious music with choirs and during the years 2010 – 2013, he worked on composing the music for a new mass setting which he called “The Brittas Mass.” Additional text for the mass was added by Irish lyricist Buddy Sutton. The mass was performed live on Ireland’s number one television station, RTE One, on July 21st, 2013. Tom worked as musical director and pianist for the live broadcast. Youtube Video
RTE Television – St. Michael’s Celebration
The second mass setting composed by Tom is dedicated to St. Michael’s Church in Portarlington, Co. Laois, Ireland, the town where Tom grew up. It was broadcast live on RTE One television on Sunday, October 30th, 2016. Youtube Video
RTE Television – Aifreann Na Clainne (Mass of the Family)
The “World Meeting of Families” takes place in Ireland in 2018 with people from all over the world coming to visit, along with a visit from the Pope. Inspired by this event, Tom composed a new mass setting called “Aifreann Na Clainne” (Which translates as “Mass of the Family”) This new mass setting will be performed on RTE One TV on Sunday, July 15th, 2018 with 4 choirs singing under Tom’s direction. Bishop Denis Nulty of the Kildare and Leighlin diocese will celebrate the mass.
